Remember when patches came on floppy disks? Took me 4 hours to install one
Back in 99 I spent a whole evening updating a NetWare server from a stack of 3.5 inch disks. One disk had a bad sector and I had to restart the whole process, that was brutal. These days I complain if an update takes 10 minutes. Anyone else miss the simple days or is that just nostalgia talking?

Oh man, that bad sector story gives me flashbacks. I actually read somewhere that the average floppy disk had something like a 10% failure rate right out of the box, so you were basically gambling every time you shoved one in the drive. I remember helping my dad with a Windows 95 install where we had to label every single disk with a sharpie and do a little dance before each one would read properly. Honestly, the slowness was part of the ritual, you had time to make a sandwich between disk swaps. But idk, I don't really miss the panic of hearing that grinding noise and knowing your whole evening was about to be ruined. It's easy to look back and smile, but I'd still take a 10 minute update over a 4 hour floppy nightmare any day.
