Serious question, what's your backup plan after a real scare?
I was at a tech meetup in Denver last month when a speaker showed how he lost all his work files in under 10 minutes from a simple ransomware email he clicked. He had no offline backup and paid the $500 ransom, which didn't even get his files back. That night I went home and set up the 3-2-1 rule: three total copies, on two different types of media, with one kept off-site. I now use an external hard drive and a cloud service, checking them every Sunday. Has anyone else had a close call that made them change their backup routine for good?

Totally get that panic. I lost a year's worth of photos when my laptop just died one morning. Now I auto-sync everything to the cloud and keep a physical drive in my desk at work, just in case my place floods or something.
