Spent 3 hours trying to figure out why my new security key wouldn't register, only to realize I was trying to plug it into the Ethernet port.
Anyone else ever get so focused on a security setup that you miss the most obvious physical step?

Wait, that's a big deal for three hours?

My coworker once spent an hour trying to figure out why his keyboard wasn't working. Turns out he had it plugged into the monitor instead of the tower. He was so proud when he finally noticed, he took a picture for the group chat. We still bring it up at lunch sometimes.

Honestly, three hours sounds totally possible to me. When you're deep in troubleshooting a security protocol, your brain just locks onto the software side of things. The physical hardware becomes an afterthought, and you'll stare right at the wrong port without seeing it. I've been there with a USB drive and a phone charger block, just completely blind to the obvious.
