Vent: When a family member asked for my password at a reunion, I had to say no.

I was at my cousin's wedding last week, and my uncle wanted to check his email on my laptop. He straight up asked for my login, like it was no big deal. I had to explain why sharing passwords is a bad idea, even with family. It got super awkward because he thought I didn't trust him. But come on, it's basic cyber hygiene, right? I told him about using a guest account or his own device, but he just shrugged it off. Now every time I see him, he gives me this look, lmao. Seriously though, setting boundaries with tech can save you from a lot of trouble.

Explaining just gives them an excuse to get upset.

My cousin Jake borrowed my tablet to play a game last year and later asked why I changed the password. I told him it was because my bank app was on there, and he got all offended. It's weird how people don't see devices as personal space. I started using separate user accounts after that, which helped a lot. Still, some relatives act like you're hiding something from them.

I came across a study showing like 70% of people have had relatives snoop on their devices. It's no surprise folks get defensive when you set boundaries. Your cousin's reaction is totally typical, sadly.
