Hot take: I ran out of dad jokes at my niece's birthday party at Chuck E Cheese in Toledo and it got awkward
So last Saturday I drove two hours to Toledo for my niece's 7th birthday at Chuck E Cheese, and I made the huge mistake of promising her a brand new joke every time she came back to the table. First 20 minutes I was crushing it. Why did the scarecrow win an award? He was out standing in his field. Why don't eggs tell jokes? They'd crack each other up. She loved it, her friends loved it, I felt like a king. Then around joke 14 my brain just went blank. I started repeating the one about the cheese factory, you know, where the owner said that's nacho cheese, and one kid called me out saying I already did that one. My sister was laughing so hard she almost dropped the cake. I ended up just naming foods in a sad voice, like, pizza. and the kids stared at me like I killed the party. So now I keep a list in my phone, but honestly, how do you guys remember a whole pile of these things on the spot? Do you have a go to joke that always lands, or do you bomb like I did in Toledo?
