Is paying $25 for a laugh track app in dad joke showdown a win or waste?

I spent $25 on this app that plays a fake audience laugh after I deliver a punchline. First week, my wife cracked up when the canned laughter kicked in, and I felt like a comedy genius. Last night, I tried it at a family BBQ and my uncle just stared at me while the laugh track went off, total silence otherwise. Does the gimmick make a joke land better or just kill the vibe? Curious if anyone else has dropped cash on props or apps for their dad jokes and how it went.
