Pro tip: my uncle told me my jokes were too smart for a cookout, so now I keep a dumb joke cheat sheet in my wallet
So about two months back I'm at a family cookout in my buddy's backyard over in Toledo and I'm firing off jokes all afternoon. I thought I was killing it. Then my uncle pulls me aside near the cooler and goes, "These are clever, but nobody's laughing. You're telling riddles, not dad jokes." I was kinda ticked at first. But then I actually listened to the table and realized he was right. The stuff that got real laughs was dumb and short, like "I only know 25 letters of the alphabet. I don't know y." So I started writing the dumb ones on index cards, stuff like "I'm reading a book about anti gravity. It's impossible to put down." Now I keep 12 of them in my wallet and pull one out when there's a lull. My hit rate at cookouts went way up. What's the dumb joke that always lands for you? I need more cards.
