Shoutout to the time my punchline backfired at my nephew's birthday party
I was at my sister's house in Phoenix last Saturday, trying out my new 'why did the scarecrow win an award' joke. I leaned in all dramatic, got the timing perfect, and then my nephew just stared and asked if he could go play on his tablet. My wife laughed way too hard at my failure, and now the whole family calls me 'the guy who got out-joked by a 7-year-old.' Has anyone else bombed a joke so hard it became a family legend?

Did your nephew at least crack a smile later, or did he just completely destroy your comedic soul lmao? Because my niece did the exact same thing to me when I tried telling her a knock-knock joke on FaceTime last year. She just stared at the screen, said "Uncle Mike, that wasn't funny," and then literally turned her iPad around to show me her cat. Now every time I visit, my brother-in-law brings up how I got roasted by a 7-year-old and her cat in the same 15 seconds. Honestly though, getting out-joked by a kid is a rite of passage at family gatherings, it's like they have this built-in radar for when adults are trying too hard. Your wife laughing is actually the best part though, now she's got ammunition forever lol.

Man that's rough but also kinda beautiful. Kids have no filter and honestly that's what makes it hurt so good. Your brother-in-law bringing it up every visit is the real long game though, gotta respect that.
