That "my wife" dad joke template is getting real old real fast

I heard two guys at the parts counter yesterday both start a joke with "my wife said" and I honestly wanted to walk out. Has anyone else noticed how half the jokes here are just swapping nouns into the same lazy formula?

Heard the exact same thing at the auto shop last week actually. Some guy was trying to tell a "my wife said we need a new transmission" joke and it was painful. These templates feel like they were funny for about three days back in 2018 and then everybody just kept running with it. I swear half the time the punchline doesn't even make sense with the setup they picked. Really wish people would just tell a joke from scratch instead of grabbing the closest Mad Libs version.

What's the worst setup you've heard crammed into one of those templates?

Wait is this really that big of a deal though? Like yeah those jokes are pretty worn out but I see people getting genuinely upset about it at the parts counter and on forums and it feels like we're overthinking a cheap laugh. A buddy of mine still tells them and honestly he gets a smirk or two out of the guys at the shop, nobody's walking out or anything. Half the time people just want to hear something familiar when they're waiting on their oil change, not a comedy special.
