The day I stopped folding my socks and finally understood the joke

I used to spend 5 minutes every morning matching up my socks by color and folding them into neat little bundles. Last Tuesday my 8 year old saw me doing it and goes 'Dad, you're just delaying the punchline.' Now I just toss them all in a drawer and grab any two. Has anyone else had a kid point out the obvious flaw in your dad joke logic?

I mean, it's 5 minutes not 5 seconds though.

Yeah, that "it's 5 minutes not 5 seconds" thing got me thinking. I actually saw a post the other day about how some movies have deleted scenes that are longer than the whole short film they were supposed to be in, and it reminded me of how time feels different depending on what you're watching. Five minutes of a slow drama feels like forever, but five minutes of an action scene flies by. I guess it's all about pacing and what the director wants you to feel. So I get why someone might say it's 5 minutes, but in the moment that can feel way longer or shorter depending on the movie.
