The punchline pacing note that fixed my whole set

Last month at the weekly showdown someone told me I rush the setup and bury the punchline. They said I talk like I'm trying to get through a stop sign before it turns red. So I started counting to two after the setup line before I drop the pun. It felt weird for about 15 jokes but now the room actually laughs instead of just nodding. Has anyone else gotten timing feedback that changed how you deliver your dad jokes?
