Vent: The "polite clap" dad joke always wins and I don't get it
You know the joke where you knock on a table and say "polite clap"? It wins the showdown here almost every week. I was skeptical for like a year. I thought it was lazy wordplay with zero setup. But then I tried it at a family dinner last Sunday. My 8 year old nephew laughed so hard milk came out his nose. I still think it's overrated but I can't argue with a result like that. Am I the only one who feels this one is coasting on nostalgia?

Saw a parenting blog saying that joke kills because kids love unexpected weirdness.

Been watching this happen for years and it's not just this one joke. It's the same pattern everywhere you look. Simple stuff that barely makes sense somehow wins over clever setups every single time. My buddy tried to explain a complex pun to his kid got blank stares then did the knock knock banana joke and had the whole car laughing. Kids and honestly most adults just want that quick unexpected payout without having to work for it. That's why knock knock jokes still rule and why that polite clap bit never dies. It's like the universe telling us to stop overthinking everything and just enjoy the dumb little moments.
