The barista at Grind House in Austin wrote my name as 'Large Coffee Guy #2' on the cup
Stopped by Grind House on South Congress last Saturday around 9am and there was another guy ahead of me who also ordered a 20oz drip. When the barista called out the orders she just yelled 'large coffee for the large coffee guys' and we both stood up laughing. Turns out he's a regular too and we ended up chatting for 15 minutes about how the roast there has this weird smoky thing going on. Has anyone else basically become a nickname at their local spot without meaning to?

Wait, she just YELLED it out loud for the whole shop to hear instead of writing it? That is way funnier than getting it written on the cup. So she basically made up your nickname on the spot and handed it to two total strangers at the same time. The fact that you both stood up is killing me, that must have been so awkward but also kind of great. And then you just stood there talking about smoky roast for 15 minutes like you guys knew each other forever? That is wild. That barista did more for your social life in five seconds than most people do all year.
