The barista at the 7th street shop laughed at my pour over ratio

Guy said 1:15 was for rookies and I should try 1:12 or I'm missing the point. I've been doing 1:15 for like 4 years and honestly it made me wonder if I'm just drinking weak coffee, has anyone else had their whole routine questioned by some random pro?
