Vent: my travel mug leaked on the bus and now my bag smells like last Tuesday

I grabbed my go-to ceramic travel mug from the Portland transit station this morning, but the lid was only finger-tight, not clicked shut. By the time I hit the 5th street stop, a full 12 ounces of dark roast had soaked through my backpack and into the sleeve of my only clean jacket. Does anyone else double-check their lid seal every single time, or am I the only one who learned this the hard way twice in one month?

That lid design is honestly asking for trouble, ceramic mugs never seal right.
