Finally admitting my $2 ballpoint pen sketches look better than my $40 markers.
I spent 2 years forcing myself to use alcohol markers because everyone said they were the "pro" tool, but scrolling through old notebooks showed my scrappy pen lines have way more life and energy. Does anyone else find their cheap stuff actually makes better art?

Those 40 dollar markers are overpriced for what they are.

Ha! Oh man, I feel this in my bones. I bought a whole set of those expensive markers thinking I'd level up my art overnight, but they just made everything look muddy and stiff. Meanwhile my 50 cent ballpoint from the gas station has this raw, scratchy energy that actually looks like me. It's like the cheap stuff forces you to commit to your lines instead of fussing over blending and layering. Now I keep a stack of those budget pens on my desk and only pull out the fancy markers when I want to feel like I'm wasting money.
