Picked up a tip at the hardware store yesterday that changed how I sketch details
I overheard an older guy telling the clerk he uses a 0.3mm mechanical pencil instead of a regular one for tiny doodles, and I grabbed one on a whim. The difference in control is wild has anyone else tried switching up their pencil size for small drawings?

i grabbed a 0.3mm Pentel last month for doing plant sketches in my journal and it was a total game changer for little leaf veins and tiny details on flower petals. the thinner lead lets me get way more precise without the line getting all mushy like a 0.5 or 0.7 does. but heres the thing nobody talks about - you gotta push way lighter or the lead breaks every two seconds. i snapped like 12 pieces in my first hour of using it until i figured out you basically just float the pencil over the paper lol.

Yeah, totally. @stellaa69 you nailed it with "floating the pencil" - that's exactly the trick, but man, it takes some getting used to.

@stellaa69 i had the exact same snapping problem when i first switched to 0.3mm. floating the pencil is the perfect way to describe it, once you get that light touch it's magic for tiny stuff but man that learning curve is brutal.
