Bought a $25 laser pointer to tire out my cat, and now I'm the one who's tired
My cat Mabel used to wake me up at 4am every night knocking stuff off my dresser, so I finally caved and bought a $25 laser pointer at Petco on Saturday. The first night it worked great, she chased that red dot for 20 minutes and then passed out cold. But by Tuesday she figured out the dot comes from my hand, and now she just stares at the pointer and then stares at me like I'm the idiot. Last night she sat on my chest at 3am and meowed directly into my face until I got up and did the laser thing. Has anyone else's pet outsmarted a toy this fast, and what did you switch to?

That "stares at the pointer then stares at me" thing is exactly what mine did, so I switched to hiding treats around the room and letting her hunt those down instead. Takes her way longer and she passes out just as hard, plus she can't outsmart a snack.
