Had to pick between a cat tower and a window perch for my shy rescue

My cat Luna spent her first month just hiding under the couch so I wanted to give her a good spot to watch birds from the window. I was torn between a tall carpeted cat tower near the living room window or a simple suction cup window perch that sticks to the glass itself. The tower was 70 bucks and seemed like more bang for the buck but I worried she wouldnt climb it if she was still nervous. The window perch was only 25 dollars and I figured it was lower to the ground and easier for a scaredy cat to reach. I went with the window perch and stuck it to the sliding door in the kitchen where she already liked to sit and peek out. Took her about 4 days to try it out but now she spends 3 hours every morning up there watching squirrels. Has anyone else found that simpler setup worked better for a timid pet or did you go big and they surprised you by using it right away?

My old cat was terrified of anything new too, so I bought her one of those cheap cardboard scratching houses that looks like a little castle. She ignored it for two weeks, then one day I found her napping inside it with just her tail sticking out, ha.

took us both three years to break that habit, @shanem37, and i still have the battle scars to prove it.
