Hot take: My cat got way more chill after I switched to wet food fed twice a day instead of free feeding dry kibble

Tbh I saw a huge change in my cat Leo over about 3 weeks after I made the switch. He went from zooming around the house at 3am to actually cuddling on the couch during the day. The vet said the dry food was giving him too many carbs and making him hyperactive. Has anyone else noticed their pet's personality shift with a diet change like this?

Same thing happened with my cat Mochi. She used to act like she was wired on sugar all the time, tearing around the apartment and attacking my feet at night. Switched to scheduled wet food and within a month she was a completely different animal, way more calm and actually wanted to sit in my lap. The vet explained it like their bodies just crash hard from all those dry food carbs, making them act crazy when they get a spike. It was a total game changer for me too, glad it worked out for your cat.

Did your vet also mention the whole "blood sugar crash" thing? A buddy of mine had a cat that would go full gremlin mode around 3 AM, sprinting across his face while he slept. He switched to three small wet food meals a day and the cat just...stopped. Now it just kneads his chest at 6 AM instead of attacking his nose, which I guess is an improvement.

Three meals a day on a set schedule sounds like a lot of work for a cat that was probably fine just free feeding. My last cat lived to 18 on nothing but dry kibble left out all day and he never once attacked my face at night. Maybe some cats just have different personalities.
