Hot take: People overthink cat toys
I see folks dropping $30 on those fancy robotic wands. My cat Charlie spent 45 minutes today chasing a crumpled receipt I flicked across the floor. He even brought it back twice like a dog. Why does everyone think they need the expensive stuff?

Does your cat @elliotm70 actually bring the wine cork back to you for another throw, or is it more of a solo hunting thing where they just pounce on it until it stops moving? I mean, my cats will chase something exactly once then look at me like I'm supposed to teleport it back to them. Idk, maybe the difference is whether they see us as part of the game or just the thing that makes the toy appear.

Haven't you noticed cats are just weirdly stubborn about what they like? My cat Charlie literally turned his nose up at a fifty dollar automatic laser I bought him. Then he spent twenty minutes going nuts over a piece of twisted plastic that fell off a six pack of soda. I think they smell the money or something. The wine cork on a string is a classic though, that actually works because you're moving it yourself. Cats just like when you put in the work with them.

Did you catch that study about how cats prefer simple toys because they mimic real prey movements? My cat Tigger goes absolutely nuts for a wine cork on a string, way more than any of the bell balls I bought him. It's like they know we spent money on something and decide to ignore it on purpose.
