I finally gave in and tried the slow feeder bowl for my dog

I always thought those maze bowls were just a gimmick to sell plastic. My golden retriever, Gus, would finish his food in like 30 seconds flat. Last week I grabbed one for $12 at PetSmart and it actually slowed him down to a normal pace. No more gulping air and burping all evening. Has anyone else had luck with these things?

Gus sounds like a typical golden. @rodriguez.felix a minute and a half is way better than 30 seconds. The gulping air thing is real. It can cause bloat which is deadly in big dogs like retrievers. My vet told me slow feed bowls are one of the cheapest ways to lower the risk. Sure some dogs still try to inhale it but forcing them to work for each bite stops the air gulping cycle. I'd rather spend $12 than risk an emergency vet trip.

My golden retriever still tries to gulp it down just takes him a minute and a half instead of 30 seconds. Is it really that big of a health issue or just people overthinking dog bowls?
