My border collie learned to open the fridge door last night

I was grabbing a drink around 10pm and saw my dog Maisie pawing at the fridge handle. I thought she was just being nosy until I heard the seal pop open and she pulled out a whole block of cheddar cheese. She ate a quarter of it before I could stop her lol. Now I have to put a baby lock on the fridge which feels ridiculous for a 3 year old dog. Has anyone else's pet figured out something way too advanced for their own good?

Oh man, I gotta push back on this one. You're making her sound like a genius but really she's just a determined cheese addict. Baby locks on a border collie seems like you're asking for a challenge, not a solution.

Had a border collie mix that learned to open round doorknobs by jumping up and grabbing them. Ended up having to get childproof covers for every door in the house. Honestly the cheese thing is just working smarter, not harder. Some dogs are way too smart for their own good, and you gotta get creative or they'll outthink you every time. Baby locks on a border collie is actually pretty standard advice in the herding dog groups.
