My cat discovered the air vent and now I have a furry cryptid
So yesterday I'm sitting in my living room in Austin and I hear this weird scratching sound coming from the floor. I look down and see my tabby, Muffin, has somehow pried open the hvac vent cover with her paw and is INSIDE the duct. Just her head poking out of the hole like a fuzzy gargoyle. She stayed there for like 20 minutes just watching me eat cereal. Then she backed out and went to the other vent in the hallway and did the same thing. I counted 6 vents in my apartment. Today she's already checked 4 of them. I'm pretty sure she's mapping out the duct system for some kind of heist. Has anyone else's cat done this or did I just adopt a tiny architect with bad intentions?

Ha, nah you're not alone in this. Honestly every cat I've ever met treats the house like it's a puzzle they're trying to beat. The vents are just the next level. My buddy's cat figured out how to open every cabinet door in his kitchen last year, and now his place looks like a war zone every morning. I swear they just want to know every hidden spot so they can judge you from all angles. Muffin's probably not planning a heist, but she IS gonna start popping out of random ones at 3am just to freak you out. That's the real game.

You ever wonder if Muffin's plotting to gaslight you into thinking you left the vent open, @chen.adam? My cat once got stuck in a heating duct for three hours, and I'm pretty sure he came out with a new sense of superiority.
