My cat learned to open the pantry door at 3am this morning

Luna figured out the lever handle on the pantry door last night. I woke up to the sound of bags rustling at 3am and found her sitting on a pile of dry kibble she knocked off the shelf. She had that look like she knew exactly what she did wrong but didn't care. Has anyone else dealt with a cat that learns new tricks way too fast?

Oh no way, a lever handle?! That's next level cat engineering right there (my cat can barely figure out the flap on her own food container). I'm genuinely impressed and a little scared for you, because once they learn one handle they start eyeballing every door in the house like it's their personal puzzle. You might want to invest in childproof locks pretty fast, trust me on this.

Wait, is this really that big of a deal? My cat figured out the sliding closet door as a kitten, and she still just uses it to nap in my shoes. I think people get a little dramatic about cats and doors. Sure, Luna got into some kibble, but is she really gonna start casing the whole house? If you just move the kibble to a higher shelf or a cabinet with a knob instead of a lever, she'll probably get bored and move on. Unless she's some kind of mastermind cat, which I doubt.

Hang on, lever handles? My cat can barely open the soft food pouch without me helping. Are you sure your cat isn't secretly a raccoon in disguise? What's next, did she start unlocking the front door?
