My cat's new morning routine is throwing me off

My cat Milo used to just meow at 6am until I fed him, but last week he started bringing me his toy mouse and dropping it on my face. I switched his food from kibble to wet food about a month ago and now he acts like the dry stuff is poison. Has anyone else's pet suddenly change their whole feeding ritual like this?

Does he still eat the kibble if you mix a little warm water in with it? I had a cat years ago who went nuts for wet food and then looked at his dry food like it was poison. I ended up having to buy those little single-serve packets just to keep him eating anything at all. Now I'm wondering if I made a mistake by even offering him the wet food in the first place. It's like they get a taste of the good stuff and then refuse to go back to plain old kibble.
