My cat's new puzzle feeder versus the old bowl
I got a plastic puzzle feeder for my cat, Jasper, last month, but he just knocked it around the kitchen floor. Yesterday, I tried a cardboard one with a different shape, and he spent a full 20 minutes quietly working for his kibble. The cardboard one doesn't slide and makes a better crinkle sound he likes. Has anyone else found that the material of a toy makes a huge difference for their pet?

Yeah, my old cat was the same way. He hated anything plastic, it just felt too light and cheap to him. We had the best luck with those woven grass balls, the texture and weight kept him interested. Sometimes it's just about finding what feels right in their paws.

Reminds me of my sister's weirdly picky rabbit. @the_elliot, it refused to touch plastic toys but went nuts for dried pine cones from the yard. We'd watch it carefully turn the cone with its paws, then give it a good toss. Guess every animal has its own idea of a good time, right down to the feel of the thing.

My dog judges my cheap toy choices the same way.
