My cat's water bowl math finally clicked after 3 years

I was cleaning out the cabinet under the sink yesterday and found an old package of those water fountain filters. The back said cats need about 4 ounces of water per 5 pounds of body weight. My 12 pound tabby, Mittens, should be drinking almost 10 ounces a day, but I never see her at the bowl that much. So I measured her water intake over 24 hours using a cheap measuring cup from the kitchen. Turns out she only drinks around 6 ounces, which explains why the vet keeps mentioning her urine concentration. Has anyone else actually measured their pet's drinking habits, or am I the only weirdo doing math with a cat bowl at 10 PM?
