My rescue cat finally used the scratching post instead of the couch after 2 months
She's been eyeing that post since I got her in November but kept going for the armchair. Yesterday she just walked up and shredded it for a solid minute, then looked at me like she'd been doing it forever.

Heard a vet on a podcast say that cats sometimes need to "own" a spot before they feel comfortable using new stuff. Makes sense your cat was watching it for months. The look she gave you was her way of saying "this is mine now, deal with it." That's awesome she finally came around.

It’s funny you mention that, I actually read somewhere that cats pick up on our routines way more than we think so maybe she watched the bed for weeks to figure out your schedule before claiming it.
