My rescue cat went from hiding to sleeping on my face in 3 weeks
I adopted a 2 year old tabby named Milo from the shelter 3 weeks ago. First 5 days he was glued under my couch, wouldn't even come out for treats. I just sat on the floor near him every evening reading out loud so he'd get used to my voice. By day 10 he was eating from my hand, and yesterday he literally crawled onto my pillow at 2 AM and fell asleep with his head on my cheek. Did anyone else's skittish pet do a complete 180 like this or am I just lucky?

Woah, sleeping on your face after just 3 weeks? That's wild, man. My rescue cat took like 6 months to even sit on the same couch as me without darting off. You must have done something real right with that reading trick. Kinda makes me think maybe I should have tried that instead of just leaving food out and hoping for the best. Lucky you, seriously.

Yeah, and it really depends on the cat and what they went through before, you know? I had a buddy, @scott.miles reminds me of him actually, whose rescue was a total ghost for almost two months. He'd just hear scratching at night and find food bowls empty in the morning, no sight of the cat at all. Then one day out of nowhere the cat jumped up on his chest while he was watching TV and just started purring like a motorboat. So your experience, while fast, isn't unheard of. Just sounds like your tabby figured out you were safe quicker than most, which is a win.
