People who let their cats "help" with DIY projects are missing the point

I was over at my sister's place in Portland yesterday fixing her leaky kitchen faucet, and she kept letting her cat Oscar jump onto the counter and walk all over my tools. She thought it was cute and kept snapping photos, but I couldn't see the grease and little paw prints getting all over my wrenches. If you want your pet to be part of the action, fine, but keep them away from actual work surfaces or you're just making more cleanup for yourself. Has anyone else dealt with a pet that thinks they're a shop assistant?

Gotta agree with you on that, my buddy's cat knocked a full cup of coffee right onto his toolbox and it took forever to get the stains out of everything. Pets just don't understand personal workspace etiquette at all.

Doesn't it feel like we're all just one clumsy pet away from total chaos in our daily routines? @jamiew53, your buddy's story hits on something bigger I've noticed - these little disasters seem to be happening more and more lately. It's like we've all got these tiny tornadoes running around our homes and offices, and we're just trying to keep everything from tipping over. Between pets knocking things over and kids grabbing at stuff, I've seen perfectly organized rooms turn into messes in seconds flat. I swear, life these days is just one big balancing act between wanting things nice and having to accept that they won't stay that way for long.
