Tried both a harness and a collar for my cat's outdoor time. Harness wins by a mile.

Been letting my cat out on a leash for about 2 months now. Started with just a collar and leash because it seemed simpler. She kept slipping out of it twice in one week. Switched to a basic $15 harness from Petco and she actually walks with me now instead of fighting it. No more chasing her under the neighbor's porch. Anyone else have a cat that hates collars but does fine with a harness?

Harness is the only way my cat will tolerate a leash.

Same here, my cat acts like the collar is a crime but loves the harness.

Yeah, "acts like the collar is a crime but loves the harness" pretty much sums it up for my cat too. I think collars just feel too restrictive on their neck, while a harness spreads the pressure out so they don't feel trapped. It's like the difference between a tight turtleneck and a light jacket, at least in my experience.
