Wasted $60 on a fancy cat water fountain that broke in 3 weeks

I bought this ceramic cat water fountain off Amazon because my cat kept tipping over her bowl. Paid $60 for it, looked really nice on the counter. After 3 weeks the pump started making this awful grinding noise and then just died. Tried cleaning it like the manual said but no luck. My cat went back to drinking from the faucet anyway. Anyone else have better luck with a specific fountain that actually lasts?

Read something the other day about how those ceramic fountains are more for looks than function. The pumps they use are usually the same cheap ones from China that fail after a month. A buddy of mine had the same thing happen with his and just switched back to a regular stainless steel bowl. Cats are weird about still water anyway, a lot of them prefer running water from a tap. You might be better off just getting one of those cheap plastic ones that looks like a mini waterfall, they're like 20 bucks and last way longer because the pumps are simpler. The grinding noise usually means the impeller warped from heat or debris got stuck in there.

$60 ceramic fountain lasted 2 years for me with monthly vinegar cleanings.

Man I feel your pain, my fountain started doing that same grinding noise out of nowhere. I tried breaking it down and cleaning the impeller with a toothbrush but it still sounded like rocks in a blender after a few days. Idk why the cheap pumps always give out first, like the whole thing is only as strong as the weakest part. I ended up just tossing mine and going back to a regular bowl for now, maybe I'll try a different brand later.
