The Wednesday my $28 lunch break turned into a 2 hour nightmare
I work over by the mall on 3rd Street, and last Wednesday I decided to grab a quick sandwich from that new deli. The line was only 4 people in front of me, but then the lady at the front started arguing about her pastrami having too much mustard. Then the guy making sandwiches just walked off to the back for like 15 minutes with no explanation. By the time I got my food, I had 10 minutes left to eat it, and I ended up choking it down cold at my desk. Has anyone else had a simple lunch break go totally sideways because of one random person holding everything up?

Give it a rest, @rileyb61. A mustard argument and a grumpy sandwich guy aren't exactly a crisis. Sounds like a normal Wednesday to me, just eat it cold and move on.

and then you get back to your desk and someone's already asking you about something that could have waited, right? that pastrami lady really needs to just order her sandwich plain if she's that picky about mustard, because everyone else in line is just standing there watching their break disappear. i've seen people argue with deli workers for a solid ten minutes over things like lettuce placement or whether the tomatoes are cut thick enough, and it's always the person who clearly doesn't care that they're holding up ten other hungry people. the sandwich guy walking off just makes it worse, like he's sending a message that he doesn't want to deal with her anymore so he's just gonna take a personal timeout. cold sandwich at your desk hits different too, especially when you can see the time ticking away and you know you're gonna be hungry again by 2pm. honestly the whole situation makes me wonder if some people just have zero awareness of how lunch breaks work for other people.
