A client told me my wire splices looked 'messy' in a crawlspace

I always figured nobody would see them down there, but he had a point about safety. Now I take the extra 2 minutes to twist and tape every joint properly even in the dark spots. Has anyone else had a customer call them out on something dumb like that?

Wait so did he actually point out a safety concern or just complain about how it looked? Ive had homeowners crawl all over my work before and half the time theyre just repeating something they read on youtube. What was his background?

Three years back a homeowner crawled under his porch after I finished and took photos of every junction box. @ward.jamie you asked about his background, turned out the guy was a retired electrical inspector who just wanted to see if I was cutting corners. He didn't yell or anything, just showed me a picture and asked if I'd want that in my own house. That stung worse than any complaint because he was right, I was being lazy about twisting my joints tight. Made me realize that even if nobody sees it, doing it right means I can sleep better at night. What was it specifically about your splices that bothered him, the tape job or the way the wires were arranged?
