A line in a used book about fixing a tractor stuck with me
Found a 1962 shop manual at a flea market in Ohio last Saturday, and some guy had written across the top, 'check the simple stuff first, it's usually the fuel line.' I've been overthinking my own small projects for years, always jumping to the complicated fix, and that note got me to actually slow down and trace the problem step by step. Anyone else ever get handed a piece of advice from a stranger that reshaped how they approach a whole routine?

Wait, 1962? That manual is older than most people on this forum, and some random guy just scribbled the most useful thing you'll ever read in it? That's wild to me.
