Can we talk about the library bathrooms downtown? They’re either spotless or a disaster.

I was at the main branch on 5th Street yesterday killing time between jobs, and I noticed something weird about the public bathrooms. The first floor ones had new soap dispensers and smelled like bleach, but the second floor ones looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a week. Which side is the real "small win" here - a clean bathroom when you need it, or knowing that maintenance is at least trying somewhere? Has anyone else noticed this split in public spaces?

Used to think spotless bathroom was the win no matter what, but honestly knowing someone's actually trying to keep up with the mess makes me feel better. At least maintenance is fighting the good fight somewhere even if they can't get to every floor.

Honestly, elliotm70, you kind of changed my mind with that "fighting the good fight" line. I used to be the same way, I'd walk into a bathroom and if it wasn't spotless I'd just think "what are they even doing?" But you're right, seeing someone actually in the middle of cleaning, like mopping or scrubbing a stall, makes me feel way better about the whole situation. It shows they care enough to try even if they can't get to every floor at once. Ngl, I feel like a jerk now for never thinking about it that way before. It's more real than a spotless bathroom that just got cleaned by some ghost.

Yeah "fighting the good fight" makes me think of the janitor I saw just silently staring at a clogged toilet for five minutes like it owed him money.
