My buddy at the truck stop said something that flipped my whole view on tipping
I was grabbing coffee at a Pilot in Ohio last week and this older driver next to me said he tips $5 on a $3 coffee if the attendant smiles and makes conversation. Said it's not about the drink, it's about keeping the good workers happy so they stay around. Has anyone else ever thought about tipping based on attitude instead of just the bill?

My wife and I started doing something similar at this diner near our house. The waitress there always remembers our coffee order and asks how our dogs are doing. I started leaving an extra couple bucks on top of the regular tip and now she waves when we pull into the parking lot. Makes the whole experience better honestly.

Dude yes! There's this breakfast spot near me and the owner knows my mom's whole order by heart, extra crispy bacon and all. I brought her a little potted plant once and now she always saves me a seat at the counter even when it's packed. It's crazy how a little thing like that just makes you want to keep going back.
