My neighbor saw me stressing over my messy garden and said, 'It's not a failure, it's just a Tuesday.'
I mean, I was about to give up after the third time my basil died this month, but her saying that made me just water the one tomato plant that's still alive and call it a win for today.

Hold on, your basil dying three times in a month isn't a you problem, that's a plant problem. Some of those grocery store herbs are basically doomed from the start, grown too fast in perfect conditions. That tomato plant sticking it out is the real test. Honestly, keeping anything alive in this heat is the win.

My buddy who works at a nursery said those little plastic pots of basil are basically on life support already. They pack way too many plants in one container so the roots can't spread out. He told me to always split them into three separate pots right away. That tomato plant surviving means you actually know what you're doing.

Wait, so if you split the grocery store basil into separate pots right away, does it actually survive long term? Or is the damage already done from how they grew it? My last one got all leggy and sad even after repotting.
