Swore by free weights for years until I tried a cable machine last Tuesday
Thought cables were just for gym bros doing bicep curls but a guy at my gym showed me how they keep constant tension on the muscle. Now I'm adding 8 reps to my usual sets. Anyone else been converted by a specific machine?

That part about getting stuck in our ways really hits home. My friend Karen was the same way with treadmills for years, swore they were the only cardio that worked. Then she tried an elliptical on a whim and said it felt like walking on clouds. Now she won't touch a treadmill.

Wendy's air fryer story reminds me of that. I was the same way with a lat pulldown machine. Always thought pull-ups were the only real back exercise. Then a trainer at my old gym showed me how to use the wide grip bar on the lat pulldown with a slow, controlled motion. Felt like a completely different muscle group. Now I mix them both in and my back has never been wider.

Totally get this! It's funny how we get stuck in our ways and think something is one way, but then a small change shows us we were totally wrong. I feel like this happens with a lot of things, not just gym stuff. Like how I used to hate cooking with any kind of gadget until my sister brought over an air fryer one Sunday. Now I use it almost every day for veggies. Good on you for finding something that works better.
