That $28 self-checkout scale trick I tried from a TikTok video

Saw this thing where you put your bag on the scale before scanning items to get a discount. Tried it at the Kroger on 5th street. Turned out the scale just zeros with the bag already there, so I paid full price anyway. But the cashier flagged me for acting weird and now I'm pretty sure they watch me every time I go in. 28 bucks wasted on produce and a side of embarrassment. Has anyone else fallen for one of those grocery hacks that just makes you look suspicious?

The self-checkout tricks never work like they do in the videos. I tried one where you scan a cheap item but put a pricey one in the bag, and the machine just beeped at me until the attendant came over. Now I just stick to scanning everything normal and using the digital coupons in their app. Saved way more money that way, plus no one gives me the side eye at checkout. You really can't beat the store's own systems, theyve seen every trick in the book.
