The power went out during my morning routine last Tuesday...

Last Tuesday the power went out at my house right when I was about to start my morning coffee. I have a specific routine I follow every day for my anxiety, and losing that felt like a disaster at first. But instead of panicking, I grabbed a book and sat by the window for 20 minutes, just reading in the natural light. That small shift in my morning gave me a calmer day than I've had in months. Has anyone else found a weird silver lining from something that seemed like a setback?

I gotta be honest, is losing your coffee routine really that big of a disaster? Like, I get having a routine for anxiety but the way you described it as feeling like a disaster makes it sound a little dramatic. You ended up having a better day anyway, so maybe the routine was more of a crutch than a necessity. Not saying anxiety isn't real, but sometimes we build these things up in our heads way more than they actually matter.

I get what the_paul is saying, but for me it was more about the forced reset. I started just sitting outside with nothing but my thoughts for ten minutes and it actually helped my anxiety way more than my usual scramble.

Power outages actually forced me to slow down too and it made my mornings feel way less rushed.
