Tripped over a curb and spilled my iced coffee all over my notes

I was walking to the bus stop by the library downtown about 8 this morning and caught my foot on a loose piece of curb. My iced coffee went flying and landed right on my notebook, soaking about 3 pages of meeting notes. I just stood there for a minute, then fished out a napkin from my bag and dabbed at the pages best I could. The ink smudged a lot but I could still read most of it once I got to work and let it dry. Has anyone else had a random morning mishap that threw off their whole day?

I stood there for a minute" - oh I've been there, but usually I'm the one who needs a minute while my brain reboots after something dumb happens. Last week I was carrying a bagel and coffee to my car, tripped over nothing, and ended up wearing both. Not a great look walking into the office with cream cheese on my shirt and coffee stains down my pants. At least your notes were mostly readable, mine just smelled like everything bagel seasoning for the rest of the day.

Notice how we never get a graceful moment when we're alone. Nobody trips and spills coffee at a formal dinner party, it happens when you're just trying to get to work. It's like the universe saves up all the clumsiness for when nobody's around to see it look cool. I've seen customers walk into the store looking put together and then five minutes later watch them drop a gallon of paint on their own foot. That's just how life works, the embarrassing stuff always happens in the mundane moments.

karen_roberts4 wait your bagel had cream cheese AND coffee on it the same time? That is a next level breakfast disaster. I would have just called it a day and gone back to bed honestly.
