Update: My trick for getting the dishes done when I really don't want to
I was staring at a full sink after dinner, feeling totally stuck. Instead of trying to clean it all, I set a timer on my phone for just five minutes and told myself I could stop after that. I got through half the plates and all the silverware before it went off, and then I just kept going. Who knew a simple timer could trick my brain into starting? What's your go-to trick for getting past that 'I don't wanna' feeling?

That timer trick works because starting is the hardest part (our brains are weird like that). It's the same reason I'll tell myself to just put on my running shoes, and then I usually end up going for the run.
