Warning: A rainy afternoon at the library completely changed how I start my day.

I got stuck there last Tuesday when a storm hit, and I ended up just reading a magazine for twenty minutes with my phone off. It felt so calm that I've been doing a short 'no screen' time each morning since, just with my coffee. It's only a small win, but my head feels clearer. Does anyone else have a tiny morning habit that helps?

Twenty minutes without your phone is nice, but calling it a life-changing habit feels like a stretch. It's just a quiet coffee break. Most people check the weather or news first thing, not meditate. The real test is if you still do it when work gets crazy next month.

Yeah but that's the whole point, right? We've all gotten so used to grabbing our phones first thing that a quiet coffee break feels weird. It's not about meditation, it's about not letting the outside world set the tone for your whole day before you've even put pants on. I see it with my clients too, they're checking emails while I'm laying tile and then wonder why they feel stressed by 9am. The habit isn't the twenty minutes, it's choosing your own input instead of taking whatever the phone gives you. When work gets crazy is exactly when you need that space the most, even if it's just five minutes staring at a wall.

What happens when the work gets crazy and you skip it, how do you feel that day?
