Warning: I almost missed my kid's school play because I didn't write it down

I was at the grocery store yesterday when my wife texted me asking where I was. I totally forgot about the 3 PM show at Lincoln Elementary. I had to leave my cart and run. Now I put every single little thing, even stuff like 'pack snacks', right into my phone calendar the second I hear about it. What's your go-to trick for not forgetting the small stuff?

Yeah, that "ransom note" look is real. I've started color coding my calendar just to make sense of it all.
