Almost got scammed at a Target in Phoenix on Sunday

Saw a deal on a air fryer for $29 but when I checked the box it was clearly a repackaged older model with a fake sticker. Anyone else notice stores being lazy about checking returns before putting them back out?

My friend found a busted Instant Pot at a Walmart last week with a "new" sticker slapped over a dented box. She took it to customer service and they just shrugged like it was no big deal.

I'll admit I used to think Walmart wasn't that bad with returns and damaged items. But hearing stories like this makes me wonder if they've just given up on quality control altogether. Your friend should've gotten a replacement no questions asked.

Honestly this is happening way more often than people realize. It's not just Target or Walmart either, I've seen it at grocery stores and even some smaller chains just trying to push out returned stuff fast without checking. Ngl it feels like companies stopped caring about customer trust years ago and now they're just hoping nobody looks close enough. Tbh I always open boxes now before leaving the parking lot if the deal seems too good. It's exhausting having to double-check everything like this, but you can't rely on stores to do their job anymore.

Is it really that bad though? I've returned stuff to Walmart a few times and they always took it back no questions asked, even when I didn't have the receipt. Maybe it depends on the store or the manager working that day, you know?
