Found a weird trick to save on gas last month

I started driving with my windows up and AC off on the highway in Phoenix, and somehow my tank lasted 3 extra days. Has anyone else tried something like this or am I just getting lucky?

Your AC compressor is a huge drag on the engine, so turning it off really does free up some power and saves gas. It's like how I noticed my phone battery lasts way longer when I stop checking social media every five minutes - we just don't see how much little things drain us. That heat in Phoenix must be brutal though, I'd probably end up sweaty and miserable before I saved enough for a full tank.

Actually that phone battery comparison makes a SOLID point about hidden power drains nobody tracks.

The whole "we don't see how much little things drain us" thing is so true, I had to learn that the hard way. I started hiding apps like social media and games into a folder off my main screen, and set my phone to grayscale mode at night. That killed my urge to check things constantly and saved way more battery than I expected. Also turned off background refresh for every app except maps and messaging. Those little drains add up fast, kinda like leaving lights on in an empty room. Have you tried any of those tricks yourself?
