I keep seeing people stack coupons wrong at the register

Was at the grocery store yesterday and watched a lady try to use a store coupon plus a manufacturer coupon on one item. That works at some places but not others depending on the fine print. I used to mess this up all the time until a cashier at Food Lion explained it to me. Do y'all combine coupons or stick to one per item to avoid the hassle?

Ngl my buddy tried that at Publix with two manufacturer coupons and the cashier straight up told him "nice try" and scanned them both individually anyway. He still doesn't know if that actually worked or if the system just let it slide.

That's exactly how I learned too, some stores are super strict about the fine print while others just let it slide. The real trick is knowing which coupons actually stack instead of guessing at the register and holding up the line. Usually a store coupon and a manufacturer coupon work together at most places, but two manufacturer coupons on one item will almost always get rejected.

So how long until they just start printing coupons with a picture of the cashier looking all suspicious? I swear it's a 50/50 shot whether they actually check the fine print or just ring you up and hope nobody notices. Had a lady at Walmart once scan two manufacturer coupons for the same pack of razors without blinking. Then next week the same store the cashier called a manager over like I was trying to pull a heist. Makes you wonder if the system really catches it or if most of them just don't care enough to argue.
