My grocery bill dropped by $60 last week after I started checking the 'manager's special' meat section first thing Tuesday morning.
Has anyone else found a specific store or day that consistently has the best markdowns on stuff you actually use?

My local Kroger marks down their organic milk and fancy cheeses every Thursday afternoon like clockwork. I save about $15 a week just on those two items. What specific kind of meat were you finding in the manager's special section? I've seen some great deals on chicken but the beef sometimes looks a little tired.

What time on Tuesday morning do you usually go? I've found if I show up right after the morning crew finishes their rounds, the pickings are way better.

Check the sell-by dates on that beef. Are we talking about stuff that expires that same day, or do you sometimes find things with a couple days left? That's the real trick for planning meals around those deals.
